There are currently five membership categories:
Individual membership – people interested in supporting geothermal energy and the objectives of the IGA.
Corporate club membership – commercial or profit-making organizations interested in supporting geothermal energy and the objectives of the IGA. Each corporate member is entitled to three voting representatives.
Institutional membership – non-profit organizations interested in supporting geothermal energy and the objectives of the IGA. Each institutional member is entitled to three voting representatives.
Student membership – students interested in supporting geothermal energy and the objectives of the IGA and regularly enrolled in a college or university. Student members have all the rights, the privileges and the duties of membership but do not have the right to vote or hold office.
Affiliated membership – individual members belonging to the IGA through a group scheme by virtue of their membership in an affiliated organization. They have the same voting rights as individual members but their obligations and benefits may differ from those of individual members according to the terms of the group scheme agreed between the affiliated organization and the IGA Board of Directors.
