Association Overview
The main objectives of the Polish Geothermal Society are:
- promotion of geothermal energy through education and information about its current condition and prospects for development in Poland and worldwide;
- communication of reliable and objective information to the society and decision-making institutions about geothermal energy resources in Poland and their possible use;
- cooperation with operators of geothermal systems and sharing experience in using geothermal heat;
- cooperation with domestic and international organisations and institutions to develop and share knowledge and technologies and to ensure a smooth flow of information related to geothermal energy;
- integrating the circles, institutions and companies working in the area of geothermal heat.
Vision and aspirations
The Polish Geothermal Society is the main non-political and non-governmental geothermal organisation in Poland which is recognised internationally and is respected for its independent, objective and substantial operations for the development of geothermal energy locally and worldwide.
The Polish Geothermal Society maintains and strengthens its position of the chief opinion-making geothermal organisation in Poland. The Society persistently promotes sustainable development of the Polish nation by breaking the barriers for geothermal development in Poland.
Achievements and highlights
- information, promotion, education and publications – collecting and publishing information on geothermal energy, giving public speeches and expressing opinions on issues related to geothermal energy in Poland;
- cooperation with mass media interested in the development of using geothermal heat;
- taking part in consultations concerning draft legal acts related to geothermal energy including geothermal heat in the group of nine key pillars of the State Policy on Raw Materials;
- common initiatives with entities using geothermal energy on the development of system solutions (e.g. Concept of Geothermal Energy Development in Cities; Declaration on partnership cooperation towards the development of using geothermal energy in Poland);
- active membership in international organisations (IGA, IGA ERB, EGEC). Cooperation with authorities on different levels, with science and research institutions;
- organising and co-organising of domestic and international conferences, symposiums, training and workshops for all scientific circles, practitioners and fans of geothermal energy. Polish Geothermal Congress -held every two years; it is a regular event for scientists and practitioners dealing with geothermal energy in Poland. It summarises previous achievements in the development of using geothermal energy and water, technologies, new projects, possibilities and prospective directions for geothermal development in Poland.
